2018 FETE NEWS

2018 Fete Report

Please find below a short report from the 2018 Fete Chairman:-

"Now the weather has finally changed, the Fete seems a distant memory.

However, I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to those who helped make it such a marvelous day, as well as report back on the fantastic sum of money we were able to raise. The accounts have now been finalised and I am pleased to say that we have been able to give the Church and Village Hall £3000 each.

On the day itself, we were again blessed with glorious sunshine which undoubtedly helped us achieve a record attendance. It was such a pleasure to see so many familiar faces alongside a great deal of others who had come from further afield, something which I think is testament to what a brilliant reputation our Fete and Flower Show has gathered over recent years.

This reputation has not come without a great deal of hard work, with months of planning and preparation ‘behind the scenes’ and of course the last-minute tasks on the day to make everything run so smoothly. So again, I extend my thanks to the Fete Committee and to all the various people who worked so hard to make it the success that it was".

2018 Fete Flower Festival - The Wildlife Around Us

A message on behalf of the Flower Festival Organisers

"Fete Day was so special with a wonderful atmosphere and everyone having fun together.  The Church was a slightly cooler place to be but only just in the heatwave.  Thank you so much to everyone who came along to do flowers, for your fantastic arrangements and for helping to make Thursday and Friday fun-filled days too.  It was a lot of work but well worth it, and we did our best to keep the flowers going as long as we could.  One thing that was so special this year was that flowers were done by the very youngest toddlers to the over-nineties, and everyone in between, so well done for a real community effort.  The donations we received towards Fete funds were more than ever so that tops things off very well.

Jo Dike"

That was the day.....

Happy July!!   When I stepped onto the patio yesterday morning I was greeted by raindrops and that fresh whiff of ozone in the air. [According to BBC Weather this morning Exeter received 15mm of rain on Sunday].  But as for Saturday....well it was absolutely as forecast with lots of fun + + + 🚗+ + 🍻+🍔+🌭+🍟 + sandwiches and cream teas.  A hugh thank you to all who came - the stallholders, the visitors, field exhibitions and demonstrators, flower arrangers, dog show team and most of all our stalwart volunteers who helped make Coldridge's 2018 village fete such a great day.

More updates from Saturday will be posted in the coming days.

Thanks again!

Its Finally Here - 30th June!!!

Coldridge Village Fete, Vintage Rally, Flower Festival & Dog Show

A hot day is forecast, and we wish all our visitors a safe and fun-filled day.

---o0o---

10 days to go....

No pressure there then!!

At our final 2018 Fete Open Meeting (Monday 18th) the Fete Committee provided an update on the attractions and order of play for the Main Ring, attendees participating in the Vintage Rally, an overview of planned craft & commercial/exhibitor and village stalls, live music (The Dolton Rock Choir) along with discussions concerning arrangements and logistics associated with the food village.

Now the 'really hard' work starts, part of which is to reach out with a few new requests for assistance and donations from the Parish that will help support a number of our stalls on the day:-

...and not forgetting previous items

It was also reported that plans for the Flower Festival in St Matthew's are well in hand, and we received news of a special invitation from the festival organisers for parishioners to contribute something personal to the overall event through a Posy Display.

The meeting concluded with a 'site visit' to the Fete Field where the outline plans and locations of activities and facilities were described and discussed.  Some of the local residents were quite curious to learn more......

Thanks again for your continued support and assistance - we look forward to seeing you all on 30th!

Flower Festival Organisers Announce 2018's Theme

The main theme for the 2018 Flower Festival will be 'The Wildlife Around Us'.  Besides the main arrangements, the festival organisers would like to continue the tradition of including small posy displays (e.g. in a jam-jar sized container) dedicated to the memory of a loved one - to be used as decoration on the rood-screen and pew-ends.

If you'd like to participate with a display/arrangement or would like some further information please contact Jo Dike.

Message from the Committee – March 2018

We can’t believe how the year is moving on – despite the weather - arrangements are in hand for a splendid day out and as we are rapidly moving towards our biennial event we would love to hear from anyone who is willing to give up a few hours to man a stall for the Fete funds or help on the Day before or on the day itself in some capacity.

There are lots of options and your committee would welcome hearing from anyone, especially if you are new to the Parish and would enjoy being part of a lively and fun day. We would also like to know of anyone who has a gazebo or tent that they are willing to lend us on the day to help protect fete stallholders on the field.

Please look on the Parish website: https://parish.middevon.gov.uk/coldridge for updates and a taste of this great fund raising day.

If you can help, just message us (details here) and we will be in touch. Thank you.

Please make an effort to come along to find out about all that will be happening here at the end of June and, maybe, how you can help to make it an even bigger success than before!  Thanks Marylin.
