Parish Council meeting was held in Cruwys Morchard Parish Hall on Thursday 8 th November 2018 at 8 p.m.

1. MEMBERS PRESENT

Mr G. Hall (Chairman), Mr D. Berry, Mr. A. Chave, Mrs J. Mitchell, Mr. G. Kingdom, Mr R. Hill, Cllr P. Colthorpe, Cllr M. Squires

2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Mr M. Lake (Family Commitment), Mr. N. Baker (Work commitment)

3. NON-ATTENDANCE

None

4. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The minutes of the meeting held on 11th October 2018 had already been circulated prior to the meeting. Proposal: Agreement to the content of the minutes was proposed by Mrs Mitchell and seconded by Mr Berry and was unanimously agreed by the meeting and duly signed by the chairman.

5 DECLARATION OF INTEREST

Mr Berry declared a pecuniary interest on the Churchyard Grants

6 MATTERS ARISING

None

7 ROAD SIGNS

Mr Hall stated that he was expecting the sign for Way Village to be delivered very soon with the cost being £151.51. The clerk stated that she had requested a replacement sign for the junction at Way village and would also put in a request for a replacement sign at the top of Cotton Lane. The clerk had chased highways with regard to the fingerpost that was knocked down at Greenlandhead, but there seemed some uncertainty that they would be able to recoup the cost from the company of the lorry driver who knocked it down.

8 PLANNING APPLICATION (18/01414/HOUSE) – Erection of a barn after demolition of existing barn at The Cottage, Pennymoor

A short discussion took place.

Proposal: Mr Kingdom proposed and Mr Hill seconded no objections to this application and the meeting unanimously agreed 

9 PRECEPT 2019/2020

The clerk handed out to the meeting details of the budget for year 2019/20. Discussion took place about what funds would be needed for next year and the potential additional cost for a possible election

Proposal: Mr Berry proposed and Mrs Mitchell seconded requesting a precept of £4,500.00 and the meeting unanimously agreed.

10 CHURCHYARD GRANTS

Mr Berry left the meeting

A discussion took place about the amount of churchyard grants which should be paid to the three churches in the parish.

Proposal: Mr Kingdom proposed and Mrs Mitchell seconded keeping the grants the same as last year totalling £600, split in the following way: Holy Cross Church, Cruwys Morchard £300 Way Village Congregational Chapel £150 Nomansland Congregational Chapel £150 And the meeting unanimously agreed.

The cheques were duly drawn and signed by the Chairman and Clerk.

11 HIGHWAY PROBLEMS

The following potholes were reported:

• Fork Hill

• Two Post Cross to Puddington

• Lynhay to Ruckham Cross
