Newton St Cyres Parish Council would like to welcome you to our historic Parish and we hope that your residence here will be long and pleasant.

Surrounded by the beautiful rolling countryside of Mid Devon, Newton St Cyres is ideally placed for work, shopping, schools, a myriad of leisure activities and has easy access to road and rail networks – the M5 is just over 20 minutes away and Exeter St David’s station is less than 10 minutes.  The parish even has its own station on the picturesque Tarka line.  The A377 main road running through the village is a major bus route with a regular timetable

A designated Conservation Area covers some of the village.  The village is twinned with Rots, in Normandy, France

Newton St Cyres is a thriving and lively community with many facilities and opportunities for involvement by every age group.

The Parish is well served by a mobile Post Office which visits the Parish Hall twice weekly and also has a small supply of essential items.  “Belluno”, an Italian Restaurant serves a wide selection of excellent food is on the main road and across the road you will find the Parish Hall which has a free car park.  Just up the road towards Crediton, is Quickes Farm Shop. 

Travelling out of the village towards the Railway Station, you will find the new Primary School, the Recreation Ground and Clubhouse.  Just past the Recreation Ground is the Beer Engine public house.   The railway station is close to the Beer Engine Pub.

Driving towards Exeter, Hanlons Brewery, and PR Cars are located in Half Moon

Newton St Cyres Arboretum

The arboretum is accessed via the Churchyard and is open during daylight hours all year round

Newton St Cyres Parish Church

The Parish Church of St Cyr and Julitta is a thirteenth century building situated in an elevated position in the middle of the village.  It is part of the Netherexe group of Parishes.

Newton St Cyres Primary School

The School is part of the Exe Valley Federation and includes a Foundation Unit for children 2 years plus.  A parent and toddler group meet every Wednesday morning during term time. 

Newton Wonder - Community Magazine

The Newton Wonder community magazine is produced monthly and for a small subscription will be delivered to your house.  To subscribe please contact editor@newtonwonder.net.

Parish Council

The Parish Council meets on the first Thursday in the month in the Club Room at the Parish Hall.  The Council consists of nine Councillors and members of the public are welcome to attend any Council meeting.  The Council’s parish plan was updated in 2016 and a comprehensive Community Resilience Plan is in place.

If you would like to raise any issues with the Parish Council please contact the Parish Clerk or any Councillor.

A Parish Councillor is available at the monthly coffee morning held in the Parish Hall on the first Saturday of the month

Allotments can be rented for £20.00 per plot per year.  If you are interested, please contact the Parish Clerk.

Parish Notice Boards

There are noticeboards displaying parish activities at Langford Road, Half Moon, Tytheing Close, Sand Down Lane, The Village Green, Smallbrook and Station Cross.

Parish Footpaths

The parish enjoys 12.5 miles of footpaths.  A footpath map is posted on the Parish Council website.

The Recreation Ground Club

There are facilities for cricket, football, archery and tennis plus a licenced clubhouse which can be hired for private functions.  Skittles, darts and pool teams are based here.  A play area for children is situated next to the tennis course.

Newton Revels

Newton Revels is held every two years at the Recreation Ground and includes displays, sporting challenges, demonstrations and craft stalls.  Any profit made is distributed to local charities and community facilities.

Mid Devon District Council

Responsible for refuse collections and council tax.  Details of services can be found at middevon.gov.uk

Responsible for education (including school admission) and roads.
