Village Hall

Shobrooke Village Hall Shobrooke has a small but busy village hall managed by committee. The hall is currently used for meetings, parties, Yoga, Tai Chi, a Friendly Club for the Over 60's, a writing group, a singing group, arts and craft exhibitions, bingo and quiz nights. The hall is available for hire at £5.00 per hour. The Village Hall is a registered charity and is dependent on donations, grants and regular fund raising events to supplement its income. If you are interested in making a contribution to the ongoing running of the hall then there is a form available to set up a standing order. If you are a UK tax payer then completing our Gift Aid form also allows us to reclaim a further 22% from the Inland Revenue! We are delighted that we were successful in obtaining several grants to update some of the hall facilities including the toilets and heating system. For more information about hire of the hall please contact Philip Keen on 01363 777691

Village Newsletter

The village newsletter, "The Brooke", is published quarterly at the start of each season, March, June, September and December. It is delivered free to residents of Shobrooke. It is also available from the Red Lion Inn, St Swithun's Church and the village bus shelter. The present circulation is 300 copies. If you would like contribute an article, or advertise, please contact: Phi Keen, 01363 777691 The deadline is the 15th of the month prior to the month of publication

Shobrooke Friendly Club

The club, a registered charity, exists for the benefit of over 60 year olds who live in or near Shobrooke. Membership is at present £6 per annum. For most of the year meetings are held in the Village Hall on the third Wednesday afternoon of each month at 2.15pm. Outings are usually arranged for the months of May, July and September while in August a garden meeting is planned - weather permitting. At Christmas and occasionally through the year, lunches are held in addition to the other activities. Destinations for outings are chosen by members, by ballot from a list prepared by the Chairman and Committee. The annual subscription is £3 per member and most activities are subsidized by club funds. The Annual General Meeting is held in October, and new members are always welcome.
