Garden Club Report to the Annual Parish Meeting - May 2023

The Stoodleigh Garden Club has enjoyed an excellent year, with the committee of four working well together to plan events.

We held a productive AGM in November 2022 and since then the Club has gained several new members, increasing our numbers to 34, including some from neighbouring Parishes.

The tubs at Kissing Gate are maintained by the Garden Club and this year have been planted up by Jill, giving us a spectacular spring display.

Among our activities so far this year have been two Willow Weaving days at the Parish Hall, which proved very popular. We have made terracotta cane toppers, visited Snowdrop Valley and transplanted more snowdrops to cheer the way up Stoodleigh Drive. We visited N.T. Killerton Gardens for a tour with the Head Gardener and have other garden visits in the offing.

Following the success of the Stoodleigh Annual Show last year, after a break of two years due to Covid, plans are well underway for this year’s Show, which will be held on Saturday 19th August. The Show schedule can be found on the Garden Club page of the Stoodleigh website, along with other Garden Club information and the Programme of events. We are grateful to Geraldine for maintaining the website for us.

The Swap-box at Hillcrest has opened late this year, largely due to the cold spring, meaning a lack of plants and produce to swap. Hopefully it will be in full swing as the summer progresses.
