23/01591/CLU certificate of lawfulness for an existing conversion of outbuildings to kitchen/diner/utility room, Pine Cottage - withdrawn

23/01627/HOUSE & 23/01628/LBC Alterations to the internal layout, to include installation of additional windows/double glazing & rooflights, Down Farm – permission granted

24/00009/HOUSE Erection of rear and side extensions, additions of first floor and erection of a replacement garage, Oakdale – the Parish Council has visited the site but as the plans are likely to be revised making a final decision has been delayed.

Unauthorised developments, such as Bake’s Wood – this seems to becoming more common practice. Members of the council expressed some sympathy with Mr Aplin’s dilemma and Cllr Gilmour had tried to encourage a visit by the enforcement officer from MDDC planning department. The department is known to be under resourced at present and this is a discretionary service and not actually a legal requirement. The land in question is also technically in Washfield Parish.

  1. Reports

District Council – the latest report has been circulated. Attendance at the State of the District Debate in March was strongly encouraged.

Parish Council – Cllr Widdowson had sent a message that Roger Hill was to repair the notice board outside the Stoodleigh Inn and that the Defibrillator Rota was to be updated.

  1. Highways and Footpaths – in the absence of Cllr Davey the current problem seemed to be the Wheatlands bridle path with overgrown bushes
  2. The Garden Club – the proposal to enhance the Kissing Gate triangle was favourably agreed. The only reservation was the increase in time this might make to the grass cutting and whether the second less valued tree might be better removed.
  3. The Playground – the annual inspection is due in March and Cllr Widdowson will be present. Matt Berry has agreed to cut the grass in 2024 for the same fee.
  1. Schedule of Meetings – it was agreed to keep to the Tuesday format.
