Closing date for entries:  Sunday 18 August 2024

Entry fee:  40p per adult class

Hall opens for exhibits:  10.00 – 11.15am on 24 August

Exhibits may be removed from:  4.15pm

Schedule of Classes:         

FLOWERS

  1. Single rose
  2. Vase of annual flowers
  3. Vase of perennial flowers
  4. Hydrangea (3 stems)
  5. Mixed Dahlia (7 stems)
  6. Single flowering stem of clematis in a bottle, with stick
  7. A Cactus
  8. Any flower (single stem) not listed in any other class

PRODUCE

  1. 3 courgettes (Same Variety)
  2. A cucumber
  3. 6 runner beans (SV)
  4. 6 French beans (SV)
  5. 3 onions (SV)
  6. 3 carrots (SV)
  7. 6 cherry (small) tomatoes (SV)
  8. 4 tomatoes (large) – not cherry (SV)
  9. Any vegetable not mentioned above – number appropriate to size
  10. Any fruit – number appropriate to size      

FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS

  1. Arrangement in an egg cup
  2. Arrangement in a shoe or boot
  3. A nursery rhyme (max 40cm wide)
  4. A splash of colour (Max 40cm wide x 40cm high)
  5. Arranged dried flowers and seed heads (max 30cm wide)

ART

  1. A postcard sized painting – mounted, but not framed

  3. A 3D sculpture or model

CHILDREN UNDER 12 yrs

There are no entry fees for classes 27-29.  Under 12s are welcome to enter any other classes, but will have to pay the fees.

PHOTOGRAPHS

  1. Skyscape
  2. An insect on a flower

COOKERY

  1. A jar of pickle
  2. BBQ sauce in a lidded glass container

  5. A decorated Focaccia bread
  6. A fruit pie (pastry top and bottom)

CRAFT

  1. A useful item for the home – any medium
  2. A decorative item for the home – any medium
  3. An accessory to be worn or carried by you or a pet.
  4. Something for the garden – any medium
  5. ‘New from Old’

POTATOES GROWN IN A BUCKET

  1. Grow the greatest weight of potatoes that you can, from one seed potato (available from Shirley Cope at Rowhill - 30p), in a 3 gallon (13.6 litre) bucket, to be emptied and weighed by the Judge.

TERMS:  

A          Classes open to all amateurs.

B          Garden exhibits should have been grown by, and/or been in the possession of, the exhibitor for at least 2 months before the show. Craft items must not have been exhibited at this show in previous years.

C          Exhibitors are responsible for arranging their own exhibits.

D          The Committee will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any exhibit that may occur at the show.

E          Exhibitors may enter only one exhibit in any one class.

F          A child is defined as being under 12 years of age on the day of the show.

Awards:  There will be a rosette for the best overall exhibit in each section, rose bowls for the single rose class and flower arranging section and a miniature cup for Art and Photography (Judges’ awards). The Show Cup will be awarded for the highest number of points, with rosettes for the overall winner and runner up. There are cash prizes for the children’s class winners and rosettes for children’s entries to adult classes.
