Thank you to everyone who supported our fifth annual Stoodleigh Family Dog Show on Saturday 12 August. It was a fun and enjoyable community event for families and folk of all ages. The visitors from outside our village who joined us were given a great Stoodleigh welcome. The show classes, scrummy cream teas, delicious Pimm’s and side-shows kept everyone entertained for the whole afternoon. The event was organised again this year jointly between the Church and the Parish Hall.

Lesley Thwaite’s handsome Pointer, James, from Stoodleigh, won Most Handsome Dog and was the Best in Show cup winner. The cup for the Best Junior Handler went to Olivia with her dog, Rosie, from Tring. The full results are listed.

Thanks to Pat and Fred Robinson for the use of their paddock and to Chris Coles, our Judge. Grateful thanks also to:

West Ridge Veterinary Practice, for sponsorship and provision of prizes for first to fourth places of each class ....... and for also loaning us the cow and calf, fun factor;

Mole Valley Farmers for donating a wonderful collection of prizes for the raffle;

The Stoodleigh Inn, for loan of equipment and donation to the raffle;

Local businesses – Creature Comforts, Heard & Sendell, Sainsbury’s, Pets at Home and Watermans who also donated goods and raffle prizes.

The Church and Parish Hall organisers are also grateful to all those who helped with contributions, donations, baking, setting up, running stalls and packing away including transporting all the paraphernalia back to the Parish Hall.  Thanks too to everyone who came along on the day to support the event making such a happy occasion.

A fantastic total of £932 was raised to be split between the Church and the Parish Hall. That’s brilliant for a small village like ours. Thank you!

The community spirit continued in the evening when many of the afternoon participants enjoyed supper, drinks and hospitality at The Stoodleigh Inn.
