Spring Walking at Stoodleigh raises funds for Parish Hall

The weather on Saturday 14 May provided ideal walking conditions for the Stoodleigh Spring Walk. Following a hearty breakfast at the Parish Hall a group of 12 walkers set off on a strenuous seven mile hike uphill and down dale through the glorious Mid Devon countryside.

Not only did the group have wide ranging views to both Dartmoor and Exmoor, in between the timing of the walk was perfect to take in the splendour of the bluebell strewn woods.

A later party of 13 walkers set off for a shorter route along footpaths through woods and farmland around the outskirts of the village also enjoying good views and equally good conversation along the way.

Both groups of walkers joined up for the home straight back to Stoodleigh Parish Hall where a sumptuous lunch was enjoyed by 34 walkers and supporters.

The walks were enjoyed by all those who took part and the lunch provided an opportunity for others in the community to join in. Funds raised amounted to just over £300 and are in aid of the Hall Improvement Fund so that even better facilities can be provided at the Parish Hall. Thanks to Lloyd Maunder and Tesco who provided us with some community sponsorship towards breakfast and lunch.

Thanks also to everyone who joined in to make the event a community success. Thank you too to those involved in arranging the fabulous walks and also to the catering team for preparing and serving scrumptious food at breakfast and lunch.

A selection of photos are available in the Photo Gallery. Thanks to Pat Pennington, Jean Winter, Phil and Geraldine Talbot for the photographs.
