The Parish Hall was again the start and finish for a Stoodleigh Summer Walk on 8 July.

Following their bacon roll breakfasts, the long walkers enjoyed a 9.25 mile route in and around Stoodleigh and Oakford. This exceeded our previous walks and pushed the boundaries to introduce paths that many, even long-time, Stoodleigh residents hadn't trodden before. The weather was ideal for walking and along the route they enjoyed some panoramic views, historic buildings, flora and fauna.

Another group enjoyed a more leisurely breakfast and took part in a stroll around the village. They were able to point out our local interesting features and amazing views to a visiting guest staying at Quoit at Cross who joined us for the day.

On the return of all the walkers, a delicious lunch of was enjoyed by everyone including non-walkers. The lunch was rounded off with a fabulous selection of Vanessa's cup-cakes! Thanks to all the walkers and diners who supported the event which raised £307 for Parish Hall funds. Thank you also to Phil, Jennifer and John for support for the long route as well as the catering team - Sheila, Vanessa, Jean, Janet and Geraldine - all of whom also enjoyed the day.

Grateful thanks also to the Tiverton stores of Morrisons and Tesco who donated bacon and vouchers for ingredients for our community event.
