Saturday 9 May 2026

Despite some concerns earlier in the week about the weather for the village walk, Saturday 9 May turned out to be ideal conditions for the 20 walkers, and three well behaved four legged friends, that set off from the Parish Hall.

Walk Start at Ford Cross

After the steep descent to Rifton Woods the group enjoyed the climb up through the magnificent display of Bluebells before dropping down to join the road at Rifton Lodge and continuing through Coleford Bottom to Aldridge Mill and on to Trowbridge.

The final long climb from Trowbridge up to Ash Cross was rewarded by the magnificent two course lunch (and welcome cold drinks!) which awaited the intrepid group of walkers on their return to the Parish Hall.

After the Stoodleigh 100 Club May draw, which helps to provide welcome funds for both the Hall and St Margaret’s Church, there was a hearty, and well deserved, round of applause for walk leader, Linda, and members of the hall committee who provided the lunch.

Thank you to Wendy, Yvonne and Phil for the photos and event report on this page.
