Reports of some Past Events
On Christmas Eve we held our carol service. The large congregation was welcomed by Richard Scholes. After singing favourite carols we enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies.
The Coffee Morning held on the 7th December was very well supported and the sum of just over £277.00 was raised. The Church is very grateful to everyone who attended, and it was a very happy occasion.
Our Harvest Thanksgiving was held on Sunday 8th September. The church bells were rung and the service was led by the Reverend Alan Sheath, who had at one time farmed on Exmoor. A large number of items were brought and donated to CHAT.
As is our tradition, following the service sports were held on the lawn at The Old Rectory. Thanks to Bronson and Camilla Albery for the use of their garden. The sports were organised by Claire and Will Webber. A Bring and Share tea was then enjoyed in the Hall and many thanks to everyone who contributed so generously to this. During tea, another tradition is the competition to see who can tie the most knots in a length of string in one minute.
It was a very happy and enjoyable afternoon.
What a wonderful Fete it was on 6th July on the lawns of The Old Rectory. The weather was perfect and a throng of happy people came. The stalls and tea tables were overflowing with the generosity of our community and, all this combined, made it perfect! Bronson and Camilla, always welcoming and the perfect hosts, formally opened the event this year and were presented with a posy and buttonhole by Harrison and Ruby. The day also saw the culmination of the hanging basket competition and the green looked lovely with the colourful array of baskets suspended all around. Congratulations to the winners and to all those who took part in this aerial, horticultural challenge.
The sum of £1,024 was raised and we are very grateful to everyone for their support.
Easter Saturday 20th April. The egg decorating and rolling competitions were kindly organised by Oliver Tobey and were very well supported.
Following this the Coffee Morning and Sale was held in the Hall. Thanks to everyone who attended and helped raise the sum of £330.00.
