Parish Council Finance
Like all Parish Councils in Devon, we are funded by a precept which is obtained via the Council Tax paid to Mid Devon District Council. Every year, the Parish Council agree a budget and this determines the amount of precept we receive. The precept is our main source of income and enables us to manage facilities within the Parish, such as grass cutting in the open spaces we oversee. We also can provide some financial support to community groups on request to cover specific items such as insurance. The precept also covers the wages of our Clerk.
If we want to fund additional works within the parish which are outside the scope of the precept, we can apply for specific funding known as S106 funding. This is paid by developers and is used for specified community infrastructure projects within our green areas. A recent example of this was the work undertaken to improve the access and new gates into Jack’s Acre.
Finance Documents
In accordance with the Department of Communities and Local Government's Transparency Code for Smaller Authorities, all Parish Councils, with an annual turnover not exceeding £25,000, must publish no later than 1 July in the year immediately following the accounting year to which it relates.
